Ford Tourneo Connect (13 - present)
Like the C-Max, the Tourneo Connect is a late comer to a market dominated by the likes of the Nissan Note, Citroen Berlingo and the Fiat Doblo. The Tourneo Connect is a real statement of intent from Ford. It looks as though Ford have observed what was working for the popular cars in the MPV sector and incorporated them into the Tourneo Connect. They have released a five and seven seat version, both of which are cavernous, well-built and very reliable cars. In terms of appearance, it is definitely one of the better looking cars in the class with Ford managing to avoid giving it a boxy shape. It has a smartly designed cabin with lots of standard kit, sliding rear doors and comfortable seats. To drive, the Tourneo Connect is a really competent performer. Ford have been quick to point out that it drives like a small car despite its big dimensions, which is impressive. With its supple ride, responsive steering and good handling, Ford really have thrown down the gauntlet in this segment.

• There’s a really good level of standard kit even in the base model
• Very frugal and capable diesel engines
• Fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions are impressive
• The new aggressive Ford face looks great
What we don't like
• The automatic version can be a bit on the thirsty side
